Highly effective airlock for home-brew
I bought these airlocks and bungs to brew up a couple of demijohns of wine when I found myself with a bumper grape harvest. It’s years since I last made wine and I couldn’t find the old airlocks that I have somewhere so thought I’d give these a go. The price seemed fair and I was curious about the design of these – quite different to my old ones but it looked like they’d do the job. They do, in fact they are great, the bungs fit the demijohns very well and seem to be a synthetic rubber so don’t have the rubbery smell of my older ones (a smell that used to leak a little into the wine). The airlock design is clever and allows gas to escape during fermentation without bubbling over, even when fermentation is vigorous. it looks to be the length of the multiple bubble chambers and the little cap that work together to keep things calm. The plastic of the airlock is slightly flexible which is good but also feels a little thin so I worry that it might not last for that many years especially if it got a little squashed; that said my old ones are glass or brittle plastic, so care is required with storage and handling of any airlock. Nice and simple to use.The price seems fair for two well designed effective airlocks and bungs.

Great fit
I bout these for my demijohn when doing small batch brewing. They are really easy to use and the bung fits standard demijohns perfectly. I had some really lively yeast and had a bit of a blowout through the airlock, so when it came to cleaning I did find it a little difficult to clean the air locks out. I found that by soaking them it helped alot. Good value for money and I would buy them again as and when I need them.

Returning item as not the same as the advertised standard pink rubber bung… It’s red. Packaging sealed so don’t want to chance it and open to see if fits demijohns, so unfortunately returning
