Essential For Tightening Modern Taps
It might seem surprising for such an apparently niche tool like this, but it’s actually a spanner set that would be useful in the tool kits of most houses! You get six sizes in the kit – 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13mm, plus a tommy bar.Modern taps are wonderful things if they’re well designed and properly made (my tip is to avoid budget tat), but a common thing I’ve noticed is their ability to become loose over time. Perhaps it’s the slight movement created when you operate them, or from cleaning, but whatever the case they often work themselves loose after a year or so, no matter how well they’ve been done up to begin with!The problem then becomes how to fasten them back up. The long, centrally mounted fixing is a threaded rod, and it invariably extends way beyond the nut, making a standard socket set impossible to use. So too with a spanner, due to space constraints. That’s where these special, hollow bodied co-axial tube spanners come into their own. They slip over the rod and reach the nut without any problem at all. Easy to use and far, far cheaper than employing a plumber, they more than pay for themselves on the first use. Leaving your taps slopping around loose is both annoying and invites leaks so far better to just purchase a set and spend five minutes doing the job. Rothenburger are a well know company who make good quality tools for professional plumbers – so you can’t go wrong.

The quality on these are not great , like others the ends were not great not sharp and all usable but yeah feels like a dodgy low grade batch where cheap. That said i have used without issue a dozen times and different jobs i did file couple little bits i didn’t like on bottom was wasn’t quite flush on finish. The price is good and i will say the handle works well and size wise i have been able to get to where i need so long enough
