Arrived quickly well packaged and looks lovelyâ¦bought a 18â shade and I think the proportions work well. One tip when putting together if one person holds the top white bulb fitting attachment while the parts are screwed together it avoids the cable twisting

ValueLights Wood Floor Lamp Base in Grey – disappointing colour
With so many choices on offer for floor lamp bases I was spoiled for choice and spent a number of days making a shortlist. I decided on this model because I liked the traditional design and also the bulk of the product. I felt it would make a bit of a statement and be a real change from the usual brass bases that I have.Delivery was next day and that was ideal for me. All parts had been carefully wrapped and then double wrapped with cardboard to ensure they arrived in pristine condition. The instruction leaflet is short but tells you all you need to know. It is actually easier to follow the leaflet and begin putting these sections together starting from the top, not the bottom. When screwed together (it only takes a few minutes) this stand really does feel solid, and I did like the inclusion of a felt base that you stick to the bottom of the base right at the end.I know floor lamp bases are very expensive so I make no comment on the price. I will though comment on the wood used, it does feel solid and does make a bit of a statement.Why then the 3 star rating? This is because I liked the idea of a grey stand to complement my new furniture. The plain wood was really nice but was a lot more expensive, a price difference I didn’t really understand. So grey it would be, something different for a change. And grey it is!!!! My desktop monitor is perfectly calibrated for colour rendition, something that is essential with the artwork I have to do, but clearly there had been some manipulation of colour in the seller’s pictures. The grey in the pictures is just what I wanted but the grey I received was quite dark, many, many shades darker than appears in the pictures. I find this disappointing since even a simple smartphone these days can render colours quite accurately but obviously someone had decided to lighten the photograph of this grey model. Yes, that photograph appealed to me since it was just what I was looking for and, had the seller posted a picture of the actual dark grey I wouldn’t have bought this.Therefore, my 3 star rating is because the colour rendition on the page bears little resemblance to the colour of the base I received. But I have to stress that this does not take anything away from the quality of the product and had the colour been much lighter I would certainly have given this a 5 star review. All in all, the product appearance was disappointing for me but I decided to keep it and hope I can find some little shiny objects to “cheer” it up a bit.All that being said, I will still recommend this product (if you want dark grey) and I will recommend the seller for their promptness and the manufacturer for ensuring the packaging was first rate.
