excellent for 4 year old
I heard about ladybird houses from a friend of mine, but was looking for a neutral simple look, and something not too big. I give 5 stars for the fact that my 4.5 year old has immense sense of accomplishment, having built the house with only a little bit of my help. Additional 5 stars for the quality (wooden details and the tin box they came in) and 4.9 for the design (only one set of the pegs were left unused, as the holes for these on the roof panels were not in the right location, but there was enough of the wood glue, so the house looks impeccable). Now as you understand I have not used it yet to attract ladybirds, but my son talks about the “ladybird hotel” all the time. This is a perfect present for little gardeners and nature explorers.

This item was a lot smaller than I expected. Easy to assemble but only takes 5 minutes so definitely suitable for a younger child. Looks nice once assembled.

I bought this for my 7 year old grand daughter, she loves making things and watching bugs!Its well built, but a little fiddly fitting the pegs into the holes which hold it all together (along with wood glue which is supplied) so an adult guidance is advised.Although the tin shows no ladybirds on the roof they are inside the tin. It was one of the reasons I chose this item, my grand daughter loves ladybirds.I gave the gift for her birthday today, and she absolutely loves it, she wanted to make it straight away, she sat down patiently and made the house with just a little help. We went out into the garden where she put a screw into the fencing and hug up her insect house – very proud!An excellent small gift.

Great holiday project for grandchild
Bought this to entertain 5 yr old grandson. Easy for him to assemble with minimal help. He then painted it and customised it. So a project that lasted a few days and he was very proud of when he showed his parents.
