Clicks Technology Unveils the Communicator Smartphone and Power Keyboard
Clicks Technology, a company renowned for its physical keyboards for smartphones, has announced the launch of two innovative devices ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The company is introducing the Communicator, a smartphone with a physical keyboard, designed to be used as a secondary device, and the Power Keyboard, a slide-out keyboard that can be attached to smartphones, tablets, or smart TVs.
The Communicator smartphone bears a striking resemblance to the classic BlackBerry design, which may appeal to those who prefer a physical keyboard for typing. This $499 device is purpose-built for individuals who carry two phones, one for work and one for personal use, and is designed to provide a distraction-free experience, focusing on messaging, emailing, and productivity.
Key Features of the Communicator Smartphone
The Communicator features a tactile keyboard with ergonomic keys, a 3.5mm headphone jack, physical SIM card tray, expandable microSD storage, and a tactile switch for turning on or off airplane mode. The device also includes a unique feature called the Signal Light, a customizable light-up button on the side that indicates when messages are received from specific people, groups, or apps.
The phone runs on Android 16 with 5 years of security updates and has a 4,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery. It also features a 50MP main camera with OIS and a 24MP front camera, as well as NFC with Google Pay, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 6. The Communicator will be available for $399 for early bird customers who place a $199 deposit before February 27.
Power Keyboard: A Versatile Slide-Out Keyboard
The Power Keyboard is a $79 slide-out keyboard that can be attached to smartphones, tablets, or smart TVs, providing a convenient typing experience. It is powered by a built-in 2,150 mAh battery and attaches to phones via MagSafe or Qi2 magnetic connections. The keyboard offers tactile buttons and customizable settings using the Clicks mobile app for iOS and Android.
The Power Keyboard can be used independently from the device it’s paired with, making it a versatile accessory for various devices, including AR/VR headsets. Pre-orders for the Power Keyboard start on January 2, and the device is expected to ship in the spring.
Clicks CEO Adrian Li noted that the company has shipped over 100,000 of its earlier keyboards to customers in over 100 countries, validating the demand for purpose-built products that enhance communication and productivity. The Communicator and Power Keyboard are natural evolutions of this idea, providing users with innovative tools to stay connected and efficient.
