There are a lot of things to like about this Emergency Kit from Echovenrek. Beginning with the all-important survival blanket, the list of items includes a fishing lure (you need to supply a hook and line), 2 compasses, bright LED flashlight, saw, folding knife, pen with automobile glass breaker, combo knife, fork and spoon with bottle opener, several high-pitched whistles, a couple rulers scaled to common maps, fire starter stick, paracord wrist bracelet and an additional length of paracord, belt attachment with removable loop, 2 carabiners, Phillips and slotted screwdrivers, and the compact, waterproof, padded case to carry it all inside. This is compact enough and light enough (1.9 pounds) to take along backpacking or stow in the car or truck for emergencies. The items appear to be strong, useful and well-designed, with several incorporating dual or triple features in one item. The case is also a good storage area for maps and first aid supplies. The flashlight is very bright and has a belt clip, as do the pen and folding knife. I think this a 5 star item for the quantity of useful, well-made, thoughtfully-designed, compact items that could prove life-saving in an emergency, for less than $2/item.

Includes: Paracord Bracelet with Compass, Bottleholder, Metal Carabinners x 2, Plastic D Ring, Worm, Card Multi Tool, Flint Firestarter, Whistle, Blanket, Knife, Compass, Flashlight, Spork / Knife, Lanyard, Wire saw, phillips / flathead screwdriver, paracord, Pen with glassbreaker, carrying case.Ok. Lets cut to the chase, for the price wasn’t sure what to expect. Some of the items in the pack were nice, some were lacking, some, I had no idea why the included it.The good:-Metal and Plastic Carabiners, Cant get enough of these.-Whistle, Small and loud.-Spork with Knife – Good utensil-Philips / Flathead screwdrive, these were pretty cool. No base needed.-Pen with Glassbreaker, Pen Works and solid metal.-Carryng Case, yes needed and pretty solid and well packed. The OK–Paracord bracelet with compass, paracord is good, but compass isnt much to write home about.–Blanket, Good to have, but this thing is smaller than I would like to carry.–Flint Firestarter, Covered in some oil, took forever to get it working, works maybe every 3 strikes.–Flashlight, Dim–Wiresaw, works but can see this already wearing down. ONly cut a small branch about an inch thick.–Card Multi Tool, These can be ok, its fairly sturdy, but has more paracord so ok.The Lacking and What?!–Bottle Holder, WHAT… I sure hope I have a small opening 2L bottle in an emergency.–Knife is flimsy base. Not something I would rely on.–Lure, WHY? There is no other tackle included. WHy is this in here.Overall, this is about what I expected. Nothing amazing, nothing horrible. Some things that I am confused with but overall its ok. Something I will throw in the back of the truck and forget about and hopefully never need, but hey its there if I ever do.

The TLDR – there are better and more focused options in the same price range but this is a good kit to personalize. This isn’t terrible, but they have made some odd choices. The carry box isn’t bad, it is waterproof and holds everything well but it does flex a good bit which can break the water seal and the clips work, but they aren’t very strong or positive on the lock up.Now, when you think of survival tools, this kit has some good essentials. The ferro rod and striker are pretty good and a good addition – do yourself a favor and toss in a lighter and some firestarters. The knife is decent with bonus points for the open assist. The knife is not exactly high quality, but for an emergency kit, it is passable. Including the generic paracord bracelet is fine as it is, if nothing else, a convenient way to store a length of paracord. The Griimlok carabiner is always a nice addition and the screw lock carabiners are always useful even though they aren’t load bearing. The compass is fine but nothing special. Including a small flat and phillips screwdrivers does have some usefulness. While I am not a fan of the “credit card” tools, this is one that might have some usefulness as well – you will want to sharpen the cutting edge. The bad and the baffling in this kit catches most of the gear. The flashlight is just bad. I think it is meant for a AA battery, but the bore is too wide and doesn’t hold the battery in place – it is the right width for a CR123, but it is too deep for a single and too short for a single – I don’t know what battery it is supposed to use but the light just feels cheap and flimsy so I’m tossing that in favor of any of the dozens of lights I’ve got laying around. They include a “tactical pen” which is decent quality but completely out of place in this “survival kit”. Maybe if they had a notepad in there it would make sense, but if you don’t have a, preferably Rite in the Rain, notepad in the kit, save the weight of the pen for something helpful. The spork/knife/whistle combo is interesting and using the whistle as a sheath for the knife is a novel approach, but he knife is incredibly dull – something most people will not know until they actually need to try and use it. the spork combo isn’t bad, but it has a lot of flex and maybe it is just as well that the knife side is dull because the whistle cover will fall off. There is another whistle included that is incredibly high pitched and unnecessary as the whistle on the spork set is better. Of course, they include one of those wire saws that aren’t worth the metal they are made of. Why they included a little rubber lure is a mystery as there is no fishing line, hooks or the like. The water bottle clip is fine but another element that doesn’t really scream “survival”.Finally, we have a mylar blanket which is a good thing if you know how to use it and some additional paracord because you can never really have enough.Overall, this, like too many “survival kits” gives a false sense of security for most people. I don’t hate it, but I can’t recommend it unless you intend to personalize it.

This survival kit includes a lot of items that should be of better quality. There are no directions or guide of what anything is for. I am going to go over just a few of the things that would be important in a survival kit.The compass feels very cheap and would not point to North for me no mater how many times I spun around 360 degrees unless i tapped on the glass multiple times. And even then it would just get stuck much of the time. The little compass on the paracord bracelet worked better. The flashlight uses one AA battery but is very dim and of little use if you were lost in the forest at night.Mylar thermal blanket, is the thickness of tissue paper.I was able to get the fire starter to create sparks. So building a fire is possible. It includes a small rubber worm for fishing if you are starving – that is if you brought your own line and hook. Two carabiner clips that you would never use for safety, but maybe clipping your water bottle to your belt.A philips and flat head tool that could be usable. The credit card tool is gimmicky, but appears you could be able remove some nuts of various sizes if the size of the credit card would even allow you to access them. But the card does spell out morse code for HELP and SOS just in case you fall down a well (but good luck reading it with the flashlight).Ok, I know this is getting more ridiculous as I continue to review this product so I will end it here. But that is because this is not a serious product, and NO one should use this as a real emergency kit. The remaining items that I did not go into are also of dubious quality, with no chance of durability. If you do decide to use this as an emergency kit, you can always use the pen that is included to write your last will and testament (if you brought your own paper).***While I received this product for free, my reviews are always 100% honest***
