    Wow.AMAZING.edited after 5 weeks.
We have had humax recorders for 7 years now ours have lasted around 3 and a half years each ,I will admit my wife is heavy on them and records a lot due to shift work. When our latest Humax expired we considered buying the newer Humax but this was available with the same memory 1TB At 50 pounds less on Amazon it had really good reviews and the only drawback I could find is having one less tuner. To be fair, that matters less now as so much is available on catch up nowadays but we prefer to still have a recorder as it’s really easy when my wife comes in knackered after a shift to watch what she wants. It arrived early this morning plugged in and running in 5 minutes very very easy set up.Doesn’t have netflix ,Amazon prime or apple etc but I don’t mind that we’ve got firesticks for that.To me the two best things are the clarity ,size and functionality of the guide and the fact that with the same aerial in the same location as our precious Humax boxes the guide filled up completely for all channels right through for the next 7 days within what seemed like a few seconds. The guide was my main beef with the Humax boxes they would often freeze when scrolling through the channels and there were almost constant gaps in the channel listings which often made recording difficult. It’s very very early days but I’m certainly mightily impressed at the moment but we’ll see how things progress and I’ll update this review if required5 weeks update. What can I say still perfect for us no problems or glitches at all.I out of laziness would find the promised you tube update handy just to avoid changing devices but still waiting. But if you need a recorder buy this.

    Top of the class
I waited a long time for this T4-R to become available, it was long delayed. Was it worth the wait? In a word: yes!My sky contract is being ditched and this will pay for itself in no time. Works in a similar way to my old BT YouView box. A fast processor inside means that everything happens at a good speed, no lag at all. I went for the 2TB version since my Sky Q box is also 2TB and I hate space anxiety in the same way electric car drivers hate range anxiety!Simple to set up, it did a quick update and is working as expected. It’s a really nice bit of kit, and I’m a big fan of the button on the remote to switch subtitles on and off, which the Q was lacking. It’s not going to win any awards for the aesthetics but that’s not important. It does what it says it will. If you register within 30 days of purchase, the manufacturer warranty is doubled to 2 years.I’m proud to support a British company, and I’m glad they held back on its release until it was properly ready. If I could change one thing? I wish it could record more than 2 channels (although it can manage a 3rd if the 3 channels are on the same mux) but as I remarked to the current wife when she scoffed at ‘just 2’: there’s always catch up so the world won’t end if she can’t record Eastenders or Masked Singer!I have been using the T4-R for over a week, and I highly recommend it

Better than expected however remote stops responding frequently
Bought recording box to cordcut from Virgin Media (Photo shows both boxes, Virgin on the top). Box size comparible.Easy to set up and operate. Currently operating by wireless WiFi.Clear distinction between picture quality viewing via ariel and Freeview. Freeview quality is far superior.Limited recording comparing to Virgin but will get used to BBC channels on BBC app / catch up, now I only record programs with ads. Remote is responsive and easy to use. See edit belowGreat value for money compared to TiVo box. NB – no YouTube app on box but supposedly available early 2025 via update/ reboot.Would recommend. Working well in general but remote stops responding on several occasions. Change battery, follow reset instructions but the only thing that works is switch off at wall and switch back on, very frustrating & still happening around once a month.

  4. Christine Dance

    It’s easy to use.
This is brilliant, love it. Easy to record and watch. The only gripe I have is small, it’s that when I have programs set to record, it doesn’t show the times and days they are on so it is easy to set too many at the same times, then the 3rd one fails. But I wouldn’t go back to paying a monthly subscription to watch tv. So I still give it 5stars.
