ONE OF PLUMBING WORLDS GREATEST INVENTIONS EVER!!
I work as a heating engineer and use these every day and they’re a life saver! Very durable but only reason I didn’t give 5 star is that they easily cross thread which can be avoided if you’re tightening correctly but many times it’s hard when you’re doing it in a tight spot. Nevertheless it’s a must for Heat engineers / Plumbers or diy enthusiasts!

Wonder why I didn’t get a set earlier
A very useful addition to the tool cupboard. I had help my dad remove a radiator temporarily while they got some work done on a bit of damp. These made the job so much easier than it would have been before.Close off the lockshield valve, remove the TRV and use a decorators cap to close the valve. Bleed the excess pressure (and water) out via the bleed valve at the top of the rad. One side at a time with a tub underneath to catch any drips, disconnect the valve from the rad, pull the valve away from the rad just enough to slip this in place and attach it to the rad tail, repeat for the other side. Then the whole rad (including the water inside) can be moved outside and emptied into a drain, rinsed through with water, or even stored with the water in for now, etc. So much easier than emptying it one tub at a time and then stuffing a rag in each side so it doesn’t drop as you carry it through the house. Belt and braces, we put a 1/2″ bsp blanking cap on both of the valves so that if the valve wasn’t 100% closed the few drops of water that got through wouldn’t get out onto the floor. Not really needed, but for about £2 for the blanking caps, it wasn’t going to break the bank, for another layer of protection.Only downside is that you have to carry the extra weight of the water (though in reality it’s not actually that much extra weight on a normal Type 21 or 22 rad.Personally I think they are a bit overpriced for two bits of plastic that are this size, but they do the job well.

Minimal mess and thread catches quickly
These products are a valuable addition to any tool box, especially if you don’t want to drain a radiator before removal. The thread catches quickly and makes a full and effective seal against water leakage, resulting in minimal loss of contaminated water from your heating system.Word of warning – the radiator will be very heavy when lifting off the wall brackets due to retained water.
