Great little mobile!
Quick to set up. An elderly relative who doesn’t like anything “technical” finds it very easy to use this for making and answering phone calls, but won’t be using any of the other useful functions which are great, and also simple to use. The large buttons are very distinct and the display is very clear. The sound quality is good too. Great value phone, which is certainly worth the money.

Main thing is â it doesn’t work
Physically the phone seems a really good option for older people, or those with Alzheimers like my mum, who has “broken” another phone. We live 100 miles away, so I just had to get a phone and a new sim card for her, then post it and see how long it takes her to lose, sorry break, break, this one.Now I accept the first mistake was my fault – I got her a Smarty sim as they’re the cheapest. But they only work with 3G and above. This phone is only 2G, so I hold my hands up there, my bad. We’ve since tried EE, GiffGaff, O2 and T-Mobile, and it won’t recognise a single card. They all work with 2G according to their customer service, and each time we give up on one card we break it down to the nano sim (because this phone takes the old giant sim card and literally no one else’s phone in the world does) and it works in ours.My mum’s also spending a small fortune on non-functioning sim cards and first month’s calls and data (which she doesn’t need as a smart phone is way beyond her grasp) in the process.Unfortunately I chucked the box and packaging out when it arrived as “what could go wrong with a £26 phone really?” Well everything as it goes.Think we’ll just have to go to a physical shop and get whatever the simplest thing they have is with a functioning sim. It does make you think it’s a shame there’s not more options out there for older people, particularly those with dementia, but obviously they’re not a big returning customer demographic so there’s capitalism for you.

Good phone for the elderly
As described – I got this for my 82 year old mum who has arthritis in both hands and needed a new basic phone. This meets her requirements, easy to use and the large buttons are ideal. The SOS button on the back is what sold this to me as it gives me peace of mind should she need to use it. Would highly recommend if you have an elderly person needing a new phone.

Perfect gift
I got this for my dad, and he’s really happy with it. It’s a very good, sturdy mobile. The battery lasts around a week, and my dad is pleased with it.

SOS function design fault!
Ok, so this is a good phone, and does what it says very well, and is simple to use for its target audience BUT!You can set 5 emergency contacts for the SOS function button. However, when the first one doesnât answer itâs supposed to send an SMS and automatically call the other emergency contacts in the listâ¦..BUT, when the first contact phone goes to answerphone, ( as most mobiles do!) this handset thinks the call has been answered, and doesnât do anything else except hang on an open voicemail line! It doesnât send a text, nor call the other emergency contacts! Bit of a shame, as thatâs why we bought this handset. Canât find any way round it! So, overall, useful only to call one emergency contact. One added feature is it does sound an audible alarm siren when the SOS button is pushed.
